Sector: Wealth Management & Structured Products
Client: APICIL Group
Role: Financial Advisor to the Buyer
The Context
As part of its ambition to strengthen its wealth management offering and expand the range of investment solutions available to its private banking clients, APICIL sought to acquire a specialist platform with recognised expertise in bespoke structured products.
Equitim had established a strong reputation as an independent broker and structurer of tailor-made investment solutions designed for wealth management professionals and sophisticated investors.
Our Contribution
Gimar & Co advised APICIL throughout the acquisition process, including: A key objective was to identify a platform capable not only of enhancing APICIL’s product offering, but also of generating meaningful commercial synergies across the Group’s wealth management activities.
Strategic Rationale
The acquisition combined highly complementary strengths.
For APICIL, Equitim provided immediate access to specialist expertise in the design and distribution of bespoke structured investment solutions, further enriching the value proposition offered to private banking and wealth management clients.
For Equitim, joining a leading financial group provided access to a significantly broader client base and distribution network, creating substantial opportunities for accelerated growth.
The transaction was underpinned by a clear industrial logic: integrating Equitim’s product capabilities with APICIL’s wealth management franchise to unlock significant commercial synergies.
The Outcome
Following the acquisition, Equitim’s structured products were progressively integrated into APICIL’s private banking offering.
The combination proved highly successful. By leveraging APICIL’s client base, advisory network and distribution capabilities, Equitim significantly expanded its market reach and accelerated its commercial development.
As a result of these synergies, Equitim’s business activity increased tenfold following the transaction, illustrating the transformational impact of the acquisition and the strength of the strategic fit between the two organisations.
